Free Entitlement Funding and Tax Free Childcare
Government Entitlement (Early Years Funding)
All three- and four-year-old children are entitled to 15 hours of free early years (EY) entitlement per week, across 38 weeks of the year (school term time).
From September 2017 families where both parents work (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family) may get up to 30 hours free childcare per week for a three- or four-year-old child at Squirrels Pre-School. From April 2024, eligible working parents of 2-year-olds are able to access 15 hours childcare support at Squirrels Pre-School.
Free Entitlement renews at the beginning of each full term, which are as follows:
- September (beginning of the academic school year)
- January (beginning of a new year)
- April (beginning of a new tax year
As Squirrels Pre-School is a term time setting the funding is used over 38 out of a 39 week school year, in line with local authority term dates.
