About us

Originally set up in 1977 we have become an established and well used service.
Delamere Park is a parkland residential estate developed in the 1970s in a delightful location, surrounded by beautiful open countryside, which gives the children many opportunities to explore outdoors. Squirrels is a small and friendly Ofsted-inspected pre-school conveniently located on Delamere Park. Our caring and dedicated staff ensure a safe and secure environment for the children, where every day is happy, and learning is fun.

Squirrels Pre-School offers places for children from 1.5 – 5 years. All staff are fully qualified, dedicated and sensitive to every child’s needs. Progress is observed by your child's key workers and we provide a rich curriculum to support the independent skills each child needs to thrive. We currently use Famly to share observations and special moments with you and assess the children to support their needs. 

Pedagogy and Learning

At Squirrels strong emphasis is placed on learning through first hand experience. 

Squirrels follows a Reggio Emilia approach, focusing on the ways children can express themselves – practitioners are observers and promoters of children’s interests. The Reggio Emilia approach to early years education puts children in the driver’s seat and sees them as curious individuals with the power and potential to develop and learn from their environment and the relationships they build with others.

The range of play and resources combined with the creativity of the staff ensure that each child makes excellent progress towards early learning goals. The children enjoy learning through play, whilst at the same time gaining practical skills.
